Just had an amazing meal at Salt and Pepper in Merthyr Tydfil! The food is absolutely delicious — full of flavour, freshly made, and served hot. Every bite was a treat! The staff are really friendly and welcoming, and the service is fast and professional. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed — perfect for a casual lunch or dinner. Highly recommended if you're in the area. I’ll definitely be coming back! Briyani is best. .
Lovely environment, amazing friendly staff and delicious food! We tried this restaurant 22/03/2025, clean and spacious dining area, staff are super helpful and made it easy to cater to my allergies. The starters and mains were full of delightful flavours, cooked to perfection and to order, we recommend the chicken lollipops and chicken pakora! 10/10 We will be back again, thank you!
Can’t fault the food and the service, so incredibly flavoursome! Tried things I’ve never had at other Indian restaurants... was a perfect meal and dining experience! Love it and would highly recommend
Had an amazing meal! Welcome and service were both excellent - the chef actually chatted to us. We had two starters - both were well cooked and delicious. We then had the stew (mild) and the beef curry (hot). The curry was just phenomenal; I was still talking about it says later! Highly recommend eating here. We just happened upon it when we tried to eat elsewhere and they had no tables - so glad!!
My new favourite go to takeaway! I'm vegan and they always make sure to take extra care when making my order. They never miss with the flavour. I've dined in and had takeaway, I recommend both. I also really love their drink options. Everything is so authentic
I was excited to find a good and authentic Kerala food restaurant at Merthyr Tydfil. The restaurant is undergoing some refurbishment. The staff were friendly and warm. Huge space and they have a pool table as well. We had pork cutlet starters, Paal kappa with beef roast , idiyappam with chicken stew. Decent quantity and priced well. Will recommend to try this place out if looking for good Kerala cuisine.
I arrived at the restaurant unexpectedly to get a takeaway. The moment I walked in the ambience stood out to me and then the staff were so warm and inviting. I was treated with kindness and the staff were very attentive and did not mind at all that I hadn't ordered online. The food was absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. Their own recipe lemonade was most delicious and tasted divine. As soon as my husband is well enough we will definitely be dining in as we loved the food but my husband missed out on the wonderful staff and the ambience of the restaurant. I would recommend everyone to book a table as the experience will be wonderful.
If you’re craving authentic Halal Kerala-style cuisine in Merthyr Tydfil, Salt and Pepper Restaurant is an absolute gem! From the moment I walked in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere made me feel right at home. The food? Simply outstanding. Went for friends family gettogether , tried several dishes, and each one was a delightful explosion of flavors. The starters with chicken momos were fantastic , didint like chicken 65 though(felt like more coloured). And kids were so fond of chicken lollipops. The **Paalkappa** was creamy and comforting, perfectly spiced and true to its traditional roots. The **Beef Roast** was tender, juicy, and packed with rich, aromatic spices that left me wanting more. The **string Hopper** paired beautifully with the **Chicken Stew**, which was fragrant with coconut milk and subtle spices—a true Kerala classic. We even tried string hoppers with coconut milk and sugar for the kids who were sweat toothed. And let’s not forget the **Kappa Biryani**! This unique dish was a revelation—soft, flavorful tapioca paired with fragrant beef and spices. It’s a must-try for anyone looking to explore something different. Ghee roast was nice with typical sambhar and chutneys . Seasonal fish curry was so yummy with sea bass.More sort of blended in cocunut milk.And it can go well along with porotta,(tupical keralas flaky bread). Chicken kothu porotta, was nice and quickly finished in seconds. Lamb roast we tried was also good . Their duck roast stood out as well with the porotta. Puttu(steamed rice cake ) was sos softand nice and was perfect to go with beef roast,which was swmi gravy type. To top it all off, their **tea** was the perfect end to the meal—rich, aromatic, and just the right level of sweetness. It’s no exaggeration to say it’s the best tea I’ve had in a long time! We finished off with dessert , fruit salad, icevream with brownies.. Very spacious ,wont feel like congested at all,even we went as a group of 15 and kids. They have a pool table for entertainment. The service was impeccable, with staff who were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. The restaurant is also spotlessly clean, which added to the overall great experience. They accept cash and card. Very pocket friendly shop. Even after we tried everything bill was really slim. They even gave off 20% discount coupon for each family for next visit. Free parking in near by street. Easy to find even from busy traffic. If you’re a fan of Kerala cuisine or just looking to try something new, Salt and Pepper Restaurant is a must-visit.
